Going back home...

Time to go home! Another 3 weeks to go and I will be heading back home to Holland ending my time in Pakistan and also putting my MSF career on hold for (some) years. So just back in time to have a proper meal around the Christmas tree after having missed that ritual last year.
Our new project in DMJ, where I’ve worked the last 4 months, has really taken shape. We are running feeding programs for malnourished children in 3 different locations admitting large numbers of kids everyday and providing medicine and high-nutrition food to get them back on their feet. The other day we admitted a 2,5 year old child weighing a little over 3 kg!
Besides the feeding program, I’ve been quite busy helping the government hospital to set up a proper system to dispose of medical waste. This to avoid bare-footed children playing soccer on the streets, patients and medical staff stepping on used needles and broken vials!
Now that the feeding program is running smoothly and the expat team has expanded to 4, we are going to focus on shaping up the pre- and post-natal care for the community in close cooperation with the government hospitals.
But for me, going home soon after having had the opportunity to work in 3 different projects in Pakistan! I’ve decided to leave MSF for now and to look for a job back home. I’ve had my first remote job interviews on phone and so far it’s looking promising. Currently I’m looking for a nice place to live in Amsterdam so suggestions are always welcome!
To all former MSF colleagues, drop me a line (antonfrima@hotmail.com) the next time you’re passing the office for (de)briefing and we’ll go for a beer!
Enjoy the pictures and thanks for reading!
Cheers,
Anton

Hi Anton,
Groetjes
